Of about 10 sample VRML files I have tried, openvrml-player can only produce the NIST logo and a single simple cylinder. It seems to hang on all other files I have tried, for example: http://www.vislab.uq.edu.au/users/manuals/vrmlsiggraph96/course/space.wrl http://www.wiley.com/legacy/compbooks/vrml2sbk/ch15/15fig11.wrl files from: http://www.cadlogic.com/downloads/vrml_example_files.aspx And even the NIST logo doesn't work in firefox (I have the plugin installed) I just get an all-black window, that eventually may turn to all-white if you give focus elsewhere. If X crashes, it's probably due to a bug in your video driver. It's not due to a bug in OpenVRML. I'm not able to reproduce the issues you describe with the other models, either; those problems might also be driver-related. What is your video hardware? Laptop: Compaq A916NR Presario Intel Pentium Dual-Core Mobile Processor T2330 Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 I presume; how could I check for what info you seek? One way would be to check using gnome-device-manager; look for an entry called "VGA Controller"; but I think you're right. I'm moving this to the Xorg Intel driver component. Also, note that these drivers have been under fairly active development; you may wish to try Fedora 14 to get a newer release. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 670417 *** |
