Reason: Earlier object-versioning was enabled by default even though bitrot was not enabled (as of now only bitrot is the consumer of object-versioning). When it is enabled, it incurs some cost w.r.t to cpu because it sets versioning xattr and as part of it, on every fresh lookup, getxattr calls were made to find weather object is bad, to get it's current version and signature. Result: Now object-versioning is enabled with bitrot and is disabled by default. So resources like cpu is not consumed unnecessarily. | |
