Lucas Alvares Gomes 2016-11-22 16:49:58 UTC Doc Text Cause:

Ironic didn't wipe the device's metadata prior to start partitioning and writing the image onto it.

Consequence:

The deployment would potentially leave old metadata in the disk which could cause it to fail to boot the new image.

Fix:

Disk's metadata are wiped prior to Ironic start working on the device.

Result:

Old metadata are erased from the device and the new image boots normally.

Ironic now wipes a disk's metadata before partitioning and writing an image into it. This ensures that the new image boots normally. In previous releases, Ironic didn't remove old metadata before starting work on a device, which made it possible for a deployment to fail.
