| Ray Strode [halfline] | 2017-01-09 19:28:15 UTC | Doc Text | Cause: policykit credentials for shutting down the system were not obtained up front, before logging out Consequence: If a user cancels the policykit authentication dialog used for obtaining credentials to shutdown, they will get sent back to the login screen instead of their session (which was already mostly, logged out) Fix: Ask the user for credentials up front, so they won't get asked again after logout commenced and its too late to turn back Result: Cancel at the authentication dialog brings the user back to their session, instead of to the login screen. | |

| Lucie Vařáková | 2017-02-01 12:49:46 UTC | Doc Text | Cause: policykit credentials for shutting down the system were not obtained up front, before logging out Consequence: If a user cancels the policykit authentication dialog used for obtaining credentials to shutdown, they will get sent back to the login screen instead of their session (which was already mostly, logged out) Fix: Ask the user for credentials up front, so they won't get asked again after logout commenced and its too late to turn back Result: Cancel at the authentication dialog brings the user back to their session, instead of to the login screen. | Cancelling shutdown from a GUI session now switches to running session Previously, the *policykit* credentials for shutting down the system were not obtained up front before logging out. Consequently, if the users cancelled the policykit authentication dialog, they were sent back to the login screen instead of the graphical user interface (GUI) session. With this update, the dialog for obtaining credentials appears up front before the logout starts. As a result, when the users cancel the authentication dialog, they are sent back to their session instead of the login screen. |
