| Jakub Jelen | 2018-04-13 11:14:55 UTC | Doc Text | Cause: NSS is wrongly handling smart card insertion events and its status. Consequence: Firefox or other tools using NSS (GDM) are not reliably detecting the card insertion state and hang when requested to wait for slot events Workaround (if any): Do not update to nss-3.34.0-4.el7 and wait for future update nss-3.36.0-3.el7_5 Result: The smart cards should work as expected with older NSS release. |

Consequently, the *Firefox* browser and other applications using *NSS* in the Gnome Display Manager (GDM) do not reliably detect the card insertion state and they hang while requesting to wait for slot events. To work around this problem, do not update the _nss_ packages to version 3.34 and wait for the upstream version 3.36. The smart cards work correctly with the previous *NSS* version. |
