| Doc Text | Cause: When installing RHEL without a network connection and the installer navigates through the Anaconda GUI and decides to set the "System Purpose" values Role, Service level, and Usage, the settings will not be saved to the system. Consequence: Normally they should be saved to the system and will be utilized during registration once the network has been configured. Unfortunately, due to this bug they values chosen will be lost. Workaround (if any): Assuming the installer remembers the values that she set in the Anaconda GUI, she can set them again post install and prior to running "subscription-manager register" by using the syspurpose command line tool to set the role, sla, and usage. If the values are not remembered, the "Configuring system purpose" section of the "Performing a standard RHEL installation" documentation provides a list (that must be typed exactly). Result: | |||

Result: | .System Purpose settings are not saved when installing RHEL 8 without a network connection Currently, System Purpose settings are not saved when installing RHEL 8 using the graphical installation without a network connection. As a consequence, the chosen System Purpose settings cannot be used by the system during registration. To work around this problem, enter the System Purpose settings post-installation but before system registration by using the `syspurpose` command-line tool. See the _Configuring system purpose_ section of the _Performing a standard RHEL installation_ documentation for instructions. |
