Venky Shankar 2022-01-31 13:15:02 UTC Doc Text Cause:
A Ceph MDS can at times crash after its promoted to an active rank due to a failover.

Consequence:
The Ceph MDS remains unavailable and may results in downtime for clients accessing the file system.

Fix:
Correctly handle the case which causes the MDS to fault.

Result:
MDS failover will result in the file system being available after transition to an active rank.

.The Ceph Metadata Server (MDS) no longer crashes after being promoted to an active rank

Previously, the Ceph MDS would crash after being promoted to an active rank and remain unavailable, resulting in downtime for clients accessing the system due to a failover.

With this update, the MDS failover results in the file system being available after transitioning to an active rank.
