Michael McCune 2022-11-21 18:33:43 UTC Doc Text Cause: When using the "newest" or "random" deletion policy on a MachineSet, the controller did not obey the "machine.openshift.io/cluster-api-delete-machine" annotation.

Consequence: Machines marked with the "machine.openshift.io/cluster-api-delete-machine" annotation were not honored and the Machines were not preferred for deletion.

Fix: The controller has been updated to watch for the "machine.openshift.io/cluster-api-delete-machine" annotation for all deletion policies.

Result: Machines with the "machine.openshift.io/cluster-api-delete-machine" annotation are now preferred under all deletion policies.

*Previously, when using the `Newest` or `Random` deletion policy on a compute machine set, the controller did not obey the `machine.openshift.io/cluster-api-delete-machine` annotation. As a result, machines marked with the this annotation were not honored and the machines were not preferred for deletion. With this release, the controller is updated to watch for the `machine.openshift.io/cluster-api-delete-machine` annotation for all deletion policies and machines with this annotation are preferred under all deletion policies.
