| Doc Text | Cause: Previously, there was an bug in grep causing that it doesn't request PCRE UTF-8 processing if UTF-8 locale is in effect. Consequence: Unicode symbols weren't correctly matched if Perl regular expression (the -P option) were used in UTF-8 locale. Fix: Upstream fix was backported that adds request for UTF-8 processing to PCRE if UTF-8 locale is in effect. Result: Grep now correctly handles unicode symbols in PCRE in UTF-8 locales. |
