Description of problem:
from my main userid 'gavin', executed
su - gavinxi
ran thunderbird, it came up okay, then attempted to run (N.B. this _HAS_ run successfully in the past on F19):

if flickered briefly o the screen, maybe for less than a second, left some diagnostics on the teminal:(caja:14652): dconf-CRITICAL **: unable to create directory '/run/user/1000/dconf': Permission denied.  dconf will not work properly.
