Description Sergio Pascual 2013-10-04 11:44:23 UTC
Spec URL: http://guaix.fis.ucm.es/~spr/python3-configobj.spec
SRPM URL: http://guaix.fis.ucm.es/~spr/python3-configobj-4.7.2-1.20131004hg10adc6e7d759.fc19.src.rpm
Description:
ConfigObj is a simple but powerful config file reader and writer: an ini file
round tripper. Its main feature is that it is very easy to use, with a
straightforward programmer's interface and a simple syntax for config files.
It has lots of other features though:
    * Nested sections (subsections), to any level
    * List values
    * Multiple line values
    * String interpolation (substitution)
    * Integrated with a powerful validation system
          o including automatic type checking/conversion
          o repeated sections
          o and allowing default values
    * All comments in the file are preserved
    * The order of keys/sections is preserved
    * No external dependencies
    * Full Unicode support
    * A powerful unrepr mode for storing basic datatypes

Comment 2 Sergio Pascual 2013-10-04 11:47:45 UTC
This is the python3 version of python-configobj. Upstream doesn' want to maintain a python3 port. But the original author of configobj has "blessed" this as the method to obtain a python3 compatible package.

It's easier to use:
Source0: https://bitbucket.org/pkumar/configobj-py3/get/10adc6e7d759.tar.bz2
Those .hg files shouldn't hurt in any way.

Issues:
- simplify Source0

I have switched the upstream URL to a personal fork and added the LICENSE.txt there

Comment 7 Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek 2013-10-05 18:02:14 UTC
I don't think that's a good idea. This essentially creates a fork, which adds additional overhead, because you must sync your repo against upstream. This makes it harder for co-maintainers and proven packagers to update the package if the need ever arises, and fedora's goal is staying close to the upstream. The package is fine without a license file, even if we would prefer to have it. Please instead ask upstream to merge your fork (if you haven't done that already), and revert Source0 to point to upstream.
