Description Alan Feuerbacher 2013-10-20 12:41:49 UTC
There appears to be no way to find how to open a terminal emulator in Fedora 19 (I just install a fresh copy of it) documentation.

As a Unix user of 30 years, I WANT a terminal to do much of my work. First, Fedora should install this by default, i.e., something like the old right-click-desktop-gets-you-a-terminal. Rather, I had to search online for several hours to find that (1) I had to install "nautilus-open-terminal", then "gnome-tweak-tool", and restart several times. This software should also be installed by default. I consider this a HUGE hole in Fedora's usability for a long-time Unix user. Second, I consider having to find this information online in various general linux forums, rather than on Fedora's webpage, unacceptable.

By the way, I use RHEL5 (yeah, it's long outdated, but that's the commercial world for you) at work all day long, and that's why I was interested in Fedora for home use over other Linux distributions.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora 19 downloaded 17-Oct-2013 and with full software update after installation.

How reproducible:
Right-click on desktop and see no options for "Open Terminal"

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:

Expected results:

Opening applications in general is covered in http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/21/html/System_Administrators_Guide/ch-Opening_GUI_Applications.html now. The instructions about opening any application from the menus should also work for opening a terminal window.
