Created attachment 817680 [details]
Screenshot of display corruption

Description of problem:
In Thunderbird, sometimes when I move the cursor around the thread pane, the currently selected message and several below it vanish. Often they are replaced by the highlight color.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-1.0.9-1.fc19.x86_64
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [NVS 5400M] (rev a1)

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a folder in Thunderbird.
2. Have both thread and message panes open.
3. Move the cursor up and down in the thread pane.

Actual results:
Certain messages/threads reliably trigger this issue. I haven't noticed a common feature between them.

Expected results:
Display as normal.

Additional info:
I'm using a Thinkpad T530 set to use only the NVIDIA video card because the DVI out doesn't work with the on-CPU Intel graphics.

The proprietary nv driver does not have this issue (but it has other, more serious problems).

Comment 1 Jason Merrill 2014-11-10 14:36:11 UTC
I just tried using nouveau again after using the nv driver for a while, and I'm not seeing this problem anymore on an up-to-date F20 install. I don't know what changed to fix it.

Comment 2 Jason Merrill 2014-11-11 16:39:01 UTC
Hmm, while I'm not seeing this issue in the thread pane anymore, I am still seeing it occasionally in a compose window. Sometimes my name at the bottom of the message vanishes, and just now a word at the beginning of a line with the spelling squiggle under it.

Comment 3 Fedora End Of Life 2015-05-29 09:39:47 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 20 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 20. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '20'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 20 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

This still happens occasionally in Fedora 22.

Comment 6 Jason Merrill 2015-12-04 16:09:00 UTC
Still happening frequently with xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-1.0.12-0.3.fc23.x86_64, though not with the reproducer I posted before.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 23 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 23. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '23'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you

Comment 8 Fedora End Of Life 2016-12-20 12:43:06 UTC
Fedora 23 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2016-12-20. Fedora 23 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
