It seems from looking at the source that neither my interpretation or the interpretation in the deployment guide are correct (although perhaps the deployment guide's version is just badly worded). "nodev" appears to reference, instead, that this filesystem is not backed by a block device (rather than mounted on a device). This bug/component is not included in scope for RHEL-5.11.0 which is the last RHEL5 minor release. This Bugzilla will soon be CLOSED as WONTFIX (at the end of RHEL5.11 development phase (Apr 22, 2014)). Please contact your account manager or support representative in case you need to escalate this bug. Thank you for submitting this request for inclusion in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5. We've carefully evaluated the request, but are unable to include it in RHEL5 stream. If the issue is critical for your business, please provide additional business justification through the appropriate support channels (https://access.redhat.com/site/support). The needinfo request[s] on this closed bug have been removed as they have been unresolved for 1000 days |
In section 3.2.10, "/proc/filesystems", it is stated: > The first column signifies whether the file system is mounted on a > block device. Those beginning with nodev are not mounted on a device. This is incorrect. "nodev" indicates that the filesystem cannot accommodate special devices, not about whether it is mounted on a device or not.
