Description Ohad Basan 2013-11-20 12:02:47 UTC
Description of problem:

In edit nic dialog, "Up" link state + "unplugged" card status is valid
although a nic can't be both up and unplugged at the same time

Comment 2 Einav Cohen 2013-11-21 18:41:06 UTC
not sure that it is true: the "link state" may represent the NIC status once it will be (hot)plugged to the VM. So if the "link state" is Down, it will plugged to the VM as "Down" (if/when plugged), and if it is Up - it will be plugged to the VM as "Up" (if/when plugged).
I could be wrong though - will let the network people address this.

The link state represents whether the vnic should be connected to a network or not.

The actual status of the nic appears on the left-most columns, in this case unplugged nic with link state set to 'up' will be marked with a red triangle stating it is actually down with a tool tip when hovers with a detailed explanation.

Once the nic will be plugged, it will be wired and connected to the network and its status will be marked as a green triangle indicating it is 'UP'.
