Description james labocki 2013-11-21 18:45:01 UTC
This is a RFE for parameters within a host group to provide more descriptive information about the parameter. It is suggested that a way to do this would be to allow authors of puppet modules to place snippets of the description in the puppet module itself and then foreman could display those descriptions in the UI.

I think this is a foreman request. I seem to remember you asking about this in irc the other day and dcleal saying they were working on it upstream, but that it would be post 4.0 timeframe

Yes, we're looking to extract parameter descriptions out of the manifests and pass this through to Foreman. We already have some of the technology necessary from our new installer project, kafo.

In the meantime though, we could add descriptions to the o-f-i seed script, so as well as populating values, it could populate the description fields on the smart class parameters.

Also, the plugin work (i.e. foreman_openstack_cluster) means we can improve the UI.

This is really not relevant anymore with the staypuft installation.
