Description Ian Malone 2013-11-22 22:30:26 UTC
Description of problem:
http://spins.fedoraproject.org/
"Fedora spins are alternate version of Fedora, tailored for various types of users via hand-picked application set or customizations."

Should be "versions of Fedora". Some complaints on the users list that "alternative versions" would be better, even if alternate is technically correct alternative is less ambiguous and would also better match EN_GB usage as well as US.

Hi Ian,
yes you're right. I corrected this on the new pre-release page and we should be consistent and have the same sentence in spins.fpo and get-prerelease:
http://fedoraproject.org/it/get-prerelease#spins

If you think "alternative" is better I'm ok with it, any other corrections in that sentence?

Thank you.
Robert

"What is a spin? Fedora spins are alternate version of Fedora, tailored for various types of users via hand-picked application set or customizations."

Sorry, hadn't noticed this: 'via hand-picked application set' has the same problem, probably 'sets' as it's still talking about the range of spins.

Thank you.
We are already branching the next release, and as you know these sentences also need to be translated by the L10n teams. Fixing it now on production is not the best moment as we will freeze translations soon (and therefore the sentence would be in english for all languages till unfreeze).
The fix has just been applied for the next Fedora release, you will see it will change at F20 release time.
