Description Damian Jansen 2013-11-27 05:29:06 UTC
Description of problem:
The "Show reference translations from <language>" feature does not give any indication that the source is approved, rejected or otherwise.

Specifically if rejected, it's likely that the source is unfavourable as a reference - it may cause highly deviated translations (or, as Sean so eloquently put it in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=981713#c3 - a game of Telephone).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
dev

How reproducible:
Easy always

Steps to Reproduce:
Preconditions:
  - a project exists with multiple languages - say Polish and French - and a source document to translate
  - the project is set to need review
1. Sign in as admin, go to the project
  - If not already, edit project and check Requires Review
2. Select the version, language fr, then the document to translate
3. Translate the first string, and save
4. Reject this translation
5. Use the breadcrumb to return to the project version
6. Select language pl, then the same document
7. Press the settings tab on the right hand menu
8. Select "Show reference translations from [French]"

Actual results:
The reference is shown, no indication it is rejected

Expected results:
It should be red, or tagged [Rejected], or something. Same for Fuzzy, and perhaps Approved - giving the translator at least some level of confidence in what they see.

Comment 1 David Mason 2013-11-28 00:56:58 UTC
An alternative approach to giving translators confidence in the reference translations would be to show only translated and/or approved translations for reference. Indicating the state in some way would be less critical, but possibly still useful.
