Description John Call 2013-12-03 18:43:17 UTC
Title:
  Configuring WebSocket Proxy -- a component of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager

Describe the issue:
  One of the questions asked by the 'rhevm-setup' interactive script prompts the user to configure WebSocket Proxy. The RHEV 3.3 Installation Guide does not mention anything about "WebSocket Proxy". A new user of RHEV (or somebody unfamiliar with the product) is unable to make an informed decision about whether or not to allow this configuration.

Suggestions for improvement:
     A brief description of this feature should be included in section 3.5, at bullet point #7. For example, What is this feature? What does it do? Why would I choose to install it? Perhaps we should provide a link to a diagram similar to the one at https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux_OpenStack_Platform/4-Beta/html/Configuration_Reference_Guide/remote-console-access.html

Additional information:

This appears to have been debated earlier at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1000049#c5

Comment 1 John Call 2013-12-03 22:51:25 UTC
Here is the output from rhevm-setup which shows the WebSocket Proxy question. This provides justification for why the documentation should be updated in section 3.5, bullet point #7. An administrator that is following the installation guide will become confused at this point.

          --== SYSTEM CONFIGURATION ==--

          Configure an NFS share on this server to be used as an ISO Domain? (Yes, No) [Yes]:
          Local ISO domain path [/var/lib/exports/iso]: /nfs/iso
          Local ISO domain name [ISO_DOMAIN]:
          Configure WebSocket Proxy on this machine? (Yes, No) [Yes]: No

          --== END OF CONFIGURATION ==--
