Description Conrad Meyer 2013-12-11 16:02:14 UTC
Description of problem:
The E17 systray module is not loaded by default. This means it doesn't appear in the Shelf eligible components list. A systray is essential for the current best E17 <-> NetworkManager integration (network-manager-applet).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
enlightenment-0.17.5-2.fc19.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install fresh enlightenment
2. Log in to E17 desktop
3. Try to add systray to default Shelf

Actual results:
Systray is missing from shelf components list

Expected results:
Systray can be added to shelf components without having to enable/load the systray module

Additional info:

Comment 1 Conrad Meyer 2013-12-11 16:03:36 UTC
Probably also: EConnMan should not be in the default shelf until it is packaged and shipped as a required package for enlightenment in Fedora.

Comment 2 Conrad Meyer 2013-12-12 03:30:28 UTC
I had to find this random blog post from 2010 to figure out how to see the NM applet: http://hal9000dev.blogspot.com/2010/11/show-system-tray-in-enlightenment-17.html

Comment 3 Skippy 2013-12-21 13:29:06 UTC
I concur. With the current default configuration the wireless network management appears to be broken, as one can neither access to the default wifi module (NetworkManager) nor use the apparent wifi module (EConnMan) — at least without specific knowledge or lots of struggling.

(Also, thanks for the link in comment #2.)

Comment 4 Jaroslav Reznik 2015-03-03 15:19:25 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 22 development cycle.
Changing version to '22'.

More information and reason for this action is here:

Comment 5 Fedora Admin XMLRPC Client 2015-06-18 18:09:49 UTC
This package has changed ownership in the Fedora Package Database. Reassigning to the new owner of this component.

Comment 6 Ding-Yi Chen 2016-02-03 06:13:36 UTC
If you were talking about Xembed systray icons (e.g. NetworkManager and IBus),
the support is deliberately removed in E20.

See https://twitter.com/_enlightenment_/status/538000507315314688

Alternatively, you can use stalonetray, tint2 that shows xembed systray icons.

On the side note, I have tried them, I have yet found the methods to put them in the position I want (Enlightenment panel on the bottom left, systray on the bottom right.)
