Description Simon Green 2013-12-12 21:12:42 UTC
Upstream introduced comment tagging in trunk, bmo backported it. A few people have requested that we backport it to brc. The upstream bug is 793963, and the trunk commits are 8817, 8818 and 8819.

The biggest issue will be maintain any changes until we move to Bugzilla 5.0. BMO are going to face the same problem, as they backported it to 4.2.

Perhaps the user who was using GreaseMonkey to hide certain automated comments would be interested in this if the automated things tagged their comments.

We're now starting to take a serious look at what we need to do to move to Bugzilla 4.5/5.0 (where we'd pick up the comment tagging feature from upstream). Assuming that we won't run into any roadblocks that prevent us doing that inside the next 12 months, I think our time is better spent on that than on backporting comment tagging to a branch that we're already preparing to leave behind.
