i think this is "by design", right, Jakub? We have the ability to put the logo at the bottom of the user list, if i'm wrong (In reply to Ray Strode [halfline] from comment #1) > i think this is "by design", right, Jakub? We have the ability to put the > logo at the bottom of the user list, if i'm wrong I don't see any logo even if I configure it manually: 1. Download wallpaper: cd /usr/share/backgrounds/; wget http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b0/NewTux.svg/200px-NewTux.svg.png 2. Using your favorite editor create override file in: /etc/dconf/db/gdm.d/background 3. Paste: [org/gnome/login-screen] logo='file:///usr/share/backgrounds/200px-NewTux.svg.png' 4. Run as a superuser: dconf update I believe this can be done through /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ like so:
1. (same as above)
2. Edit file /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.gnome.login-screen.gschema.override
3. Provide at least these two lines:
[org.gnome.login-screen]
logo='/usr/share/backgrounds/200px-NewTux.svg.png'
4. Run as superuser: glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/
(In reply to Paul W. Frields from comment #3) > I believe this can be done through /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ like so: > > 1. (same as above) > 2. Edit file > /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.gnome.login-screen.gschema.override > 3. Provide at least these two lines: > [org.gnome.login-screen] > logo='/usr/share/backgrounds/200px-NewTux.svg.png' > 4. Run as superuser: glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ Custom logo is now displayed under user list. Now, should be Red Hat logo part of default RHEL7 branding? My recommendation is not putting any logos on the login screen. Branding is *not* about plastering logos all over the place. By doing that, we would be doing the opposite to creating brand awareness. By adding more visual elements to the page we pollute the clarity of the login dialog and harming the user experience. Created attachment 846764 [details]
RHEL logo
Attaching a RHEL logo I'd rather not see used.
alright, given comment 5, i'm going to devnack this. Development Management has reviewed and declined this request. You may appeal this decision by reopening this request. I found out today there are still on-going discussions about this bug and so it may get reopened. reopening since there was a meeting today where it was decided this would come back. to keep things moving, i've built attachment 846764 [details] now. We may have to do another round if brand team comes back with their own concept.
logo is present in gdm now This request was resolved in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0. Contact your manager or support representative in case you have further questions about the request. |
