Description Julio Merino 2013-12-18 14:08:58 UTC
When booting the F20 installer on a PowerMac G5, the fans turn on full-speed. It seems that there is no thermal control and the machine is just running them fast "just in case". This is not a new issue: it happened with F19 as well.

Based on some comments I have found online, this might be just an issue with the installer. Some people report (years ago) that, after install, the booted system should handle the fans correctly. Unfortunately I cannot confirm this given that I have not been able to install Fedora yet on this machine (see Bug 1044537).

(Given that I cannot get the system installed yet it's hard to get further data, but I can try if you tell me whatever is needed to diagnose this.)

Thanks.

*********** MASS BUG UPDATE **************

We apologize for the inconvenience. There is a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 20 kernel bugs.

Fedora 20 has now been rebased to 3.13.4-200.fc20. Please test this kernel update and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel.

If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those.
