Watching an .mp4 video with VLC, pressing "Pause" causes pulseaudio to crash - unpausing the video works, but now there's no sound. Only restarting VLC helps to get sound in the video again. Another user experienced a similar problem: hooked up 4.0 surround-sound speaker system Front channels are plugged into the sound card's main plug (green/stereo out) and to the rear speaker plug. Discovered that KDE audio and video settings (multimedia) did not have a analog 4.0 output. Googled for fix, change to daemon.conf recommended. changed /etc/pulse/daemon.conf uncommented "default-sample-channels = 2" and changed it to "default-sample-channels = 4" saved file restarted pulseaudio (pulseaudio --stop;pulseaudo --start) opened KDE settings, multimedia, audio and video (Settings for the Phonon multimedia framework), Audio Hardware Setup the analog surround 4.0 output is present. Selected. Tested all four speakers. When a media program opens (opens the pulse audo device? It happens after quode libet scans the library), pulse audio crashes and the Sound Card (in multimedia settings) is changed from "Built-in Audio" to "HDA Nvidia" (which I do not use). Built-in Audio can be selected again, Analog Surround 4.0 output can be selected again, and the speakers will test correctly in the Audo Hardware Setup. Starting quote libet again caused another crash and the sound card will be switched again. Also experieced with KMPlayer mplayer from command line (shows up in mixer as ALSA plugin mplayer (ALSA)) works normally. The SIGABRT was encountered a couple more times, each time changing the device to HDA Nvidia. Then the device setting seemed to "stick" and audio played normally. reporter: libreport-2.2.2 backtrace_rating: 4 cmdline: /usr/bin/pulseaudio --start --log-target=syslog crash_function: pa_sink_set_latency_range_within_thread executable: /usr/bin/pulseaudio kernel: 3.14.9-200.fc20.x86_64 package: pulseaudio-4.0-13.gitf81e3.fc20 reason: pulseaudio killed by SIGABRT runlevel: N 5 type: CCpp uid: 1000 (In reply to michael mccormack from comment #14) > Another user experienced a similar problem: > Some more info lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 20. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '20'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 20 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. Fedora 20 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-06-23. Fedora 20 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. |
