interesting thing is we haven't seen this after the driver fixes done ~6 months ago in RHEV 3.2.4…but revcently (~2 months?) it started to appear again. so I wonder if this is not a regression introduced by some relatively recent change

I know this bug was created as duplicate but I don't know which CLOSED  	resolution is more suitable for it.

The virtio-serial driver behavior was changed to return en error when writing to a port when no listener on the host side. The agent should know how to handle write errors and not crash.
