Description Michal Bruncko 2014-01-14 18:53:42 UTC
Description of problem:
There is missing init script for ipv6 version of dhcrelay daemon. I dont really understand why it is missing, because:
- there are two different init scripts for main dhcpd daemon - for both ipv4 and ipv6 version (similarly there should be two init files for relay agent)
- I did not found any mention how to run ipv6 dhcrelay on RHEL's out of the box (without modifying any system files).
- I have found several ways how to overcome this missing init script, but all information are unofficial and may miss something important.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
dhcp-4.1.1-38.P1.el6

The question is, why such init script is missing? Because in case that we wanted to run ipv6 version of dhcrelay, we need to do it completely ourselves. How we suppose to do that by RedHat way?

thank you

I'd use the DHCRELAYARGS variable in /etc/sysconfig/dhcrelay
for example DHCRELAYARGS="-6 -l eth0 -u eth1" and start dhcrelay service.

But yes, you're right, it'd probably be better to ship also dhcrelay6 init script and /etc/sysconfig/dhcrelay6

not sure how will this work if you wanted to run dhcrelay for both IP stacks, (like in my case). this is only in case that you wanted to use ipv6 dhcrelay exclusively, right?

yes

With dhcp-4.1.1-43.P1.el6.src.rpm both dhcrelay6 init script and /etc/sysconfig/dhcprelay6 files exist. Moving to VERIFIED.
