Description Henri J. Schlereth 2000-04-03 21:23:12 UTC
RH 6.1 system with stock kernel 2.2.14-1.1.0 and initscripts-4.91-1
on bootup generates the following message:

Machine 1
/var/log/messages.1:Mar 30 17:22:58 kesrith sysctl: error: unable to open
preload file '/etc/sysctl.conf'
Machine 2
/var/log/messages.1:Mar 30 12:33:59 shonjir sysctl: error: unable to open
preload file '/etc/sysctl.conf'
Machine 3
/var/log/messages.1:Mar 28 11:44:19 cave sysctl: error: unable to open
preload file '/etc/sysctl.conf'

While this isnt any kind of show stopper and the entries can still
be put in with a script echo blah blah, I am kinda curious.

Update to the latest procps (i.e., the one that shipped with 6.2);
there was a bug in the sysctl program.
