Previously, Administrators of Red Hat Storage deployments had no easy mechanism to track the health of a server. A poll-based mechanism used the existing glusterFS CLI to identify the volume status and node status. A five minute polling interval displayed stale data. In this release, with the Nagios plugin integration, the Red Hat Storage Console has monitoring capabilities such as -Monitoring of critical entities such as servers, networking, volumes, clusters and services -Alerting when critical infrastructure components fail and  recover, providing administrators with notice of important events. Alerts can be delivered via email and SNMP. -Reports providing a historical record of outages, events and notifications for later review. -Trending and capacity planning graphs and reports that allow for infrastructure upgrades before failures.

Description Dusmant 2014-02-11 16:11:26 UTC
Description of problem: Currently RHS nodes in gluster-cluster can not be monitored through RHSC.
As a part of this feature, Nagios should be installable through RHSC and integrated and configured with RHSC to provide monitoring facility for RHS nodes.
Following things should be monitored
Physical entities of RHS node ( CPU, Memory, Network interfaces and Disks/LVs )
Logical entities of RHS node ( Brick and Volume )
It should also provide facility to show the Alerts that are required by Admins to ensure the gluster-cluster is working properly
Optional requirement -- if user wants to receive notifications for the alerts, they should be able to get it through e-mail or SMS or through SNMP Traps

Additional info: All these should be achieved by developing Nagios plug-ins.

Verified.

Monitoring facility is now available for the RHS nodes.
