Hi. Almost every time I use mouse to change speaker volume, it happens. But at most times, it just happens with no previous predictable signals.

You mean the volume slider from mate's sound applet or a volume slider inside sound configuration?
It looks like a issue with a single compiz plugin, personal i do not use all, in result i never saw this issue.
Can you provide a list of active plugins?
And try to disable every single plugin to find out which plugin cause the issue.
I would try to start with disable the paint and video plugin.

Save your config and try to start with a clean minimal default config, than enable a single plugin from your configuration, to find out what plugin cause the issue.
