Description wdaniel 2014-03-12 21:54:09 UTC
Description of request:

Think of a user that is authenticated through Active Directory who sees
only the recources that he has permissions on. That would be anywhere in
the admin portal, be it in the left tree view or in any other pane on
the right side.

Additional info:

The use case for this would be in larger organizations where many people need access to the Admin Portal, but don't necessarily need to see every resource managed by RHEV-M

Comment 1 Yaniv Lavi 2015-01-26 10:53:25 UTC
RHEV has a power user portal, a web-based access portal for user to: Create, edit and remove virtual machines, Manage virtual disks and network interfaces, Assign user permissions to virtual machines, Create and use templates to rapidly deploy virtual machines, Monitor resource usage and high-severity events, Create and use snapshots to restore virtual machines to a previous state.

Users should use this portal to access and manage their VMs and resources.

The WebAdmin is designed for admins and therefore there is no way to filter out according to permissions.

Hello Yaniv,

Regarding "The WebAdmin is designed for admins and therefore -->there is no way to filter out according to permissions.<--"

Why is that? I think the Feature Request is still valid, thus re-opening the Bugzila.

Did you look into the power user portal? What is missing there to provide the requested functionality?

Comment 4 Alexandros Gkesos 2015-05-25 13:56:25 UTC
Unfortunately there is no Power User Portal nowadays. (i think not even in RHEVM 3.4)

There is, https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization/3.5/html/User_Guide/chap-The_Extended_Tab.html

Comment 6 Alexandros Gkesos 2015-05-25 14:54:48 UTC
From the User Portal (Either Basic or Extended tab) you can handle only VMs and templates. Not Hypervisors/Clusters etc.

You can view/create/edit these resources only through Admin Portal, although an Admin with permissions only on some resources, is able to see everything.

That is also the initial RFE, as this functionality is not provided in any other way/Portal.

related (or even a duplicate) of bug 1221694.
