FC20 dump inactive xml and Introduce netcfInterfaceObjIsActive none

Description kubrick@fgv6.net 2014-04-05 17:35:09 UTC
Description of problem:
When I try connecting to my local libvirtd/qemu in from network-manager the following error is displayed:

Error polling connection 'qemu:///system': XML error: bond interface misses the bond element

I've deleted my configuration in /etc/libvirtd/ & /var/run/libvirtd and reinstall libvirt-daemon. I can connect to other libvirtd instances over the network (on OpenSUSE machines) so I suppose the problem is not with virt-manager.

The journal doesn't provide anything else than the same XML error message.

It used to work very well, I assume a recent update broke it...

This appears to be fixed upstream:

interface: dump inactive xml when interface isn't active

Comment 2 kubrick@fgv6.net 2014-04-13 10:45:14 UTC
Hi,

I applied the patch to libvirt-1.1.3.4-3.fc20.

It fixes the problem but breaks the compile-time tests (I had to disable them).

Thanks a lot, this patch should be backported to the current FC20 version.

I spoke to fast, I can use virt manager again, but the tests were right: it breaks the network.

FC20 dump inactive xml and Introduce netcfInterfaceObjIsActive

Okay, applying this patch

https://www.redhat.com/archives/libvir-list/2013-December/msg00612.html

make it pass the tests and /sort of/ work. I still have to do some manual bonding configuration (like removing routes from the host's physical bonded interface) for network to work, but I don't know if it's related to this bug or a configuration problem.

The attached patch is what I used.
