How interesting; there is no mention at all of this on the denyhosts mailing list. Still, I would at least consider treating this as a different project that perhaps someone else may want to package. Why would there be any mention of it on the DenyHosts mailing list, the project has been effectively dorment for about six years. With the original upstream of DenyHosts no longer maintained, it makes sense to package the new upstream as the Fedora DenyHosts package. Debian is switching their DenyHosts package to use the new upstream as is FreeBSD. denyhosts-2.9-1.fc21 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 21. https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/denyhosts-2.9-1.fc21 I would add, upon reading comment 2, that while denyhosts development has been dead, the denyhosts mailing list still exists and gets occasional traffic by people actually trying to use the software. If someone's going to fork the project they really should try to alert the people who are most impacted by the fork: the users. In reference to comments #1 and #4, where Jason said "there is no mention at all of this on the denyhosts mailing list", there was talk about forking DenyHosts and planned features for the new version back in June of 2014. Here is a link to it: https://sourceforge.net/p/denyhosts/mailman/denyhosts-user/?viewmonth=201406 Hmm, interesting. I guess I interpreted that as a completely new project that someone would need to pick up. In any case, the code from the fork on github is in Fedora now, and I'll cherry pick patches or just pull a snapshot if that would be useful. Whichever is most convenient for you. And the team working on the code is accepting and testing patches, some of the ones in queue are for improving systemd support which will be nice. Indeed, I'm already up on the github site (filed an issue yesterday) and have had some correspondence with Matthew. denyhosts-2.9-2.fc21 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 21. https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/denyhosts-2.9-2.fc21 denyhosts-2.9-2.fc20 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 20. https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/denyhosts-2.9-2.fc20 Package denyhosts-2.9-2.fc21: * should fix your issue, * was pushed to the Fedora 21 testing repository, * should be available at your local mirror within two days. Update it with: # su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing denyhosts-2.9-2.fc21' as soon as you are able to. Please go to the following url: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2015-1801/denyhosts-2.9-2.fc21 then log in and leave karma (feedback). denyhosts-2.9-4.fc21 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 21. https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/denyhosts-2.9-4.fc21 denyhosts-2.9-4.fc20 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 20. https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/denyhosts-2.9-4.fc20 denyhosts-2.9-4.fc20 has been pushed to the Fedora 20 stable repository.
