From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Opera/7.22 (X11; Linux i686; U) [en]

Description of problem:
There is no packet writing suport in current kernels, but it'd be
useful to write/continue UDF formatted CD-R(W)/DVD-R(W).
The kernel patch avaliable at http://w1.894.telia.
com/~u89404340/packet.html, tools are here: http://sourceforge.
net/projects/linux-udf/

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-2.4.22-1.2115.nptl

No chance. If its not good enough for upstream, why would it be good
enough for Fedora ? And after the recent fiasco this patch caused at
Mandrakesoft, I think we're better off avoiding this for the time being.

Exaclty what FIASCO was created? cdrecord got forked into wodim and we should be supporting this with newer kernels. It is an INDUSTRY STANDARD for rewriteable media. If you ask me, it should be ON by default and DISABLED at user request.Mind you, might have to lock the drive until write cycle finishes.Generating an ISO is so yesterday.User should be able to create one on the fly.Especially true with XL media.
