generic-release provides /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-updates.repo which has

gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-$releasever-$basearch

The file /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-20-x86_64 does not exist, so package signature checking fails.

I believe it wants these changes ported over from fedora-release:

generic-release-20-4 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 20.

Package generic-release-20-4:
* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 20 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing generic-release-20-4'
as soon as you are able to.
