Description of problem:

When you try to install Core 1 on a PC-Chips PIII motherboard (SiS 
Chipset with Celeron 750MHz) the ROM can't be read when it comes to 
installing packages.  I've verified the CD is good on a P4 and 
FreeBSD goes on the PIII just fine.

How reproducible:

Don't know.  If I have an extra box maybe I can send it to someone.  
It feels like a timing/timeout-too-quick issue reading from the CD.  
The CD does fail the media test on this device as well--but, as I 
said, installs on another platform just fine.

2. Follow bouncing ball

Unfortunately, different CD drives have different tolerances for
marginal media.  If the mediacheck is failing, then the install is not
expected to succeed.

Booting with 'linux ide=nodma' or 'linux allowcddma' may help in cases
with some hardware, but in general, I'd recommend reburning at a lower
speed.
