Another user experienced a similar problem:

Two external displays are connected and enabled and the notebook's builtin display is switched off. Then I enable the builtin notebook monitor in Monitor Preferences (accessed from Control Centre). The builtin monitor switches on as expected, but then I am notified of a crash.
