Description Jason McDonald 2014-07-14 07:34:49 UTC
Description of problem:
When multiple bugs are changed via the "Change Multiple Bugs at Once" option at the bottom of buglist.cgi, the subcomponent field is erroneously cleared.

The bug occured for https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1119092#h5 during a bulk change where 14 bugs were moved from MODIFIED to ON_QA. This was the only bug in that batch that started with a subcomponent.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
4.4.4021

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create two bugs with subcomponents
2. Perform a search that finds the two bugs
3. Choose "Change Multiple Bugs at Once" link from the search page.
4. Make sure both bugs are checked in the list, choose a new value for the status field, and click the Commit button.

Actual results:
The selected bugs lose their subcomponents.

Expected results:
The selected bugs do not lose their subcomponents.

Additional info:
none

Eric Sandeen reported similar difficulty setting the subcomponent on multiple bugs at once.

I'm not sure what you mean. there's a bug to add support for setting multiple sub components (Bug 1117646) if that's what you're referring to.

Or were you having the problem described in comment 0?

Comment 3 Eric Sandeen 2014-07-16 17:20:13 UTC
If I do a query, and get a list of bugs, then try to "Change Several Bugs at Once," and select several of them, I am unable to do anything with the subcomponent field for those bugs.

As Matt suggested, that's covered by Bug 1117646 rather than this one. This one is about the subcomponent value being deleted unexpectedly when the Change Several Bugs at Once page is used to change fields other than subcomponent, while Bug 1117646 is for the lack of an option to set/modify the subcomponent in the Change Several Bugs at Once page.

Comment 5 Eric Sandeen 2014-07-17 04:03:59 UTC
Ah, ok, sorry. I (mis)read "setting multiple sub components" to mean the ability to set multiple subcomponents on one bug, not the ability to set one subcomponent on multiple bugs. :)
