having a . or : in chown has nothing to do with solving the original question from Robin Green! Also is doesnt work to use a capitol letter or some other punctuation marks such as @ like we all are getting used to use in our dsl usernames such as w8mfd Thanks for the bug report. However, Red Hat no longer maintains this version of the product. Please upgrade to the latest version and open a new bug if the problem persists. The Fedora Legacy project (http://fedoralegacy.org/) maintains some older releases, and if you believe this bug is interesting to them, please report the problem in the bug tracker at: http://bugzilla.fedora.us/ |

Actual Results: useradd: invalid user name 'rich.adams' Expected Results: the user rich.adams is added to the password and group and shadow files and works from a login....
