Hmm, you're right, plug in the headphone in my laptop mutes the laptop speaker and the headphone. But there is a un-mute/mute checkbox in mate's (pulseaudio) sound preferences. See screenshot. Also the loudspeaker symbol shows that it is muted when you plugin the the headphone. The auto-mute option works correctly in my system once it is activated in qasmixer (seakers get muted, and not the headphone) The un-mute/mute checkbox in sound preference mutes all speakers and heaphone. (and doesn't shot that it is muted when I plug the heaphone (or looked at the wrong place, even changed to default icon theme) The screenshots are when the heaphone is plugged in. I'm not shure that i understand the prob. Do you think there is a mismatch between settings is QAS-mixer and mate-sound-preferences? In this case i think it is an pulseaudio prob. Can you use the un-mute/mute checkbox in mate's (pulseaudio) sound preferences for disable/enable your headphone? Nope, I cannot use the mute/un-mute in the sound preference, as it mutes all (speakers and headphone). The Auto-Mute mode in qamixer, mutes automatically the sound of the speakers when I plug the headphone jack in, and unmutes the speakers when I unplug it. The only way I had found, was to activate the Auto-Mute Mode in qas-mixer, to be able to mute the speaker and listen to music in headphone. To be shure that it isn't a general issue with pulseaudio. Can you test 'pavucontrol' (org. pulsaudio mixer)? Do you have different results? This message is a reminder that Fedora 20 is nearing its end of life.
