Description daniel 2014-08-12 09:47:18 UTC
Description of problem:
ndjbdns doesn't have IPv6 support so can't listen on an IPv6 interface

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ndjbdns-1.06-1.el6.x86_64

How reproducible:
Easily - install in an IPv6 capable host (even ::1 will do) and user netstat to see that dnscache/tinydns isn't listening on IPv6.

Additional info:
There are some patches available for djbdns that add in v6 support, eg. http://www.fefe.de/dns/ - I'm not looking for that level of support, for my purposes, dnscache listening on an IPv6 interface would be sufficient. Of course, full v6 support would be best!

dnscache will happily respond with AAAA records using v4 as a transport.

  Hello Daniel,

Thank you so much for reporting this issue. Work is in the early stages of development to enable IPv6 support in ndjbdns. I'll keep you posted about the progress in future. Hope that's okay.

Thank you.

Package has been retired, project is unmaintained since 2017.
