dracut just copies the file /etc/vconsole.conf from your root filesystem. Sorry, I realize now this has nothing to do with dracut. The problem lies with control-center. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set keyboard layout to "French (Macintosh)" in "Region & Language" 2. Add second keyboard layout Actual results: /etc/vconsole.conf contains "KEYMAP=fr". Note that it correctly says "KEYMAP=fr-mac" whenever this is the only layout listed in control center. Expected results: /etc/vconsole.conf contains "KEYMAP=fr-mac" when "French (Macintosh)" is the selected keyboard layout gnome-control-center just calls the "SetX11Keyboard" method, systemd is the one converting from X11 layout to linux console layout. See: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/systemd/systemd/tree/src/locale/kbd-model-map I can't reproduce that. Both using gnome-control-center → Region&Language → Input sources → Login screen → French (Macintosh) and 'localectl set-x11-keyboard-map fr-mac' result in KEYMAP=fr-mac in /etc/vconsole.conf. You didn't mention which keyboad you set (The "login screen" one, which is global, or just the user's). Please make sure that the "login screen" one is set to French (macintosh), and then verify /etc/vconsole.conf. If this doesn't work, please try 'localectl set-x11-keyboard-map fr-mac', and paste /etc/vconsole.conf here, along with systemd and control-center rpm versions. It looks like I am encountering two problems: one being the "Login screen" button under "Region & Language" disappearing. This happens when I authenticate as superuser to add a keyboard, go back to the "All Settings" screen and then return to "Region & Language". Is this a bug or expected behavior? Regarding the original problem, this occurs when adding a second keyboard layout besides the "French (Macintosh)" one in the "Login screen" part (and also in the user's part when authenticated as superuser). When I have "French (Macintosh)" and "English (UK)" in the "Login screen" part, I get "KEYMAP=fr" in /etc/vconsole.conf. If I then remove "English (UK)", I get "KEYMAP=fr-mac". For some layouts this doesn't happen though (for example with "Russian (translit (m17n))"). systemd version 208 release 21.fc20 control-center version 3.10.3 release 2.fc20 Fixed upstream in http://cgit.freedesktop.org/systemd/systemd/commit/?id=78bd12a05a. Can't make any promises about backporting atm though. *** Bug 1144789 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** The patch mentioned in comment 6 is already present in systemd-208-28.fc20.x86_64. Jeroen, could you please verify that the problem is no longer present? Thank you! This message is a reminder that Fedora 20 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 20. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '20'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 20 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. Fedora 20 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-06-23. Fedora 20 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. I can no longer reproduce this in F22. |
