I'm seeing this on just on of the computers consistently, and I've seen it on a few others just once. All the machines are running Fedora 20 and they are all current. On the one that it's consistent on, pressing CTRL-D continues the boot and the machine seems to run fine (I haven't noticed any problems). I've booted fedora 21 alpha and it boots fine, so whatever it is in the current kernel, it's not in the fedora 21 alpha workstation livecd. If someone is interested I could have a look through the bios of both the affected machine and another machine to see if it's a setting. I've updated the bios on the affected machine but the problem still exists. Ubuntu has a workaround. It is disappointing this did not make it into the Fedora 21 release: http://askubuntu.com/questions/542576/resolve-these-startup-errors (In reply to Bruce Korb from comment #8) > Ubuntu has a workaround. It is disappointing this did not make it into the > Fedora 21 release: > > http://askubuntu.com/questions/542576/resolve-these-startup-errors Um, there's nothing at that link that actually indicates what the workaround is nor if the suggested answer actually worked. Did you have a different link with more information? As far as we're aware, this is still an open upstream issue with multiple possible causes. Um, well, since I didn't have an Ubuntu installation, I confess I knew it would be useless to follow the link. Sorry about my laziness. #-( I was about to try an Ubuntu install, but you just saved me :) Thank you. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 20. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '20'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 20 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. Still happening in F21. Bug 1231319 may be related. Fedora 21 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. |
