Description Mike Gran 2014-08-25 13:29:37 UTC
Description of problem:
The 'testgtk' sample program in the examples directory has no makefile
or build instructions

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
 GtkAda3-doc-3.8.2-1.fc20.noarch

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:

Expected results:

Additional info:
I managed to get the sample application to build by commenting out any mention of "view_gl" in main_windows.adb and then running "gnatmake testgtk `gtkada-config`" in the subdirectory. I couldn't figure out the extra steps I would need to get the "view_gl" component to also build.

Comment 1 Björn Persson 2014-08-31 22:47:20 UTC
The source tarball contains GNAT project files and a makefile for TestGTK, but those are tied to the build system of GTKada itself and work only in the source tree, so including those in the package wouldn't be helpful. The upstream developers don't provide a project file that can build TestGTK against an installed GTKada, but perhaps I should write one.

It turns out that there is a worse problem with View_GL: The package body is missing. It's supposed to be preprocessed with Gnatprep, but neither the source nor the preprocessed file is included in the package. That needs to be fixed.

I'll see what I can do about this, and when. Until then you can download the source package if you want to build TestGTK.

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2015-05-29 12:43:50 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 20 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 20. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '20'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 20 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 3 Jan Kurik 2015-07-15 14:38:20 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 23 development cycle.
Changing version to '23'.

(As we did not run this process for some time, it could affect also pre-Fedora 23 development
cycle bugs. We are very sorry. It will help us with cleanup during Fedora 23 End Of Life. Thank you.)

Comment 4 Björn Persson 2015-07-22 19:39:56 UTC
GTKada 3.8.3 (or "2015") has been built and should appear in Rawhide and F23 soon. In this package there are also a makefile, a GNAT project file and complete source code so that TestGTK can be built.
