dmesg output
This is a symptom of obsolete firmware in the device (probably the IBM drive). Contact IBM/Hitachi for a firmware update. Thanks for the bug report. However, Red Hat no longer maintains this version of the product. Please upgrade to the latest version and open a new bug if the problem persists. The Fedora Legacy project (http://fedoralegacy.org/) maintains some older releases, and if you believe this bug is interesting to them, please report the problem in the bug tracker at: http://bugzilla.fedora.us/ |
Description of problem: Adaptec SCSI driver displays the error, "DV failed to configure device" on system boot-up Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kernel-2.4.22-1.2138.nptl How reproducible: Happens every time on boot-up Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: dmesg lists the following: scsi0 : Adaptec AIC7XXX EISA/VLB/PCI SCSI HBA DRIVER, Rev 6.2.36 <Adaptec 29160N Ultra160 SCSI adapter> aic7892: Ultra160 Wide Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 32/253 SCBs blk: queue ef203414, I/O limit 4095Mb (mask 0xffffffff) scsi0:A:0:0: DV failed to configure device. Please file a bug report against this driver. Expected results: no error messages. Additional info: Running an Adaptec 29160N card with two IBM SCSI hard drive, a Plextor SCSI CD-ROM, a Plextor SCSI CD-RW, and an external SCSI Zip drive.
