Description Qian Guo 2014-09-12 04:56:36 UTC
Description of problem:
Currently, there're only AC97, and ich6(intel-hda) in the sound device support of virt-manager, and since rhel7 qemu-kvm support ich9-intel-hda, we should add it to the supported list of sound device in the libvirt/virt-manager.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
libvirt-1.2.8-2.el7.x86_64
virt-manager-0.10.0-20.el7.noarch
qemu-kvm-rhev-2.1.0-3.el7.x86_64

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start virt-manager that with qemu-kvm-rhev hypervisor
2.
3.

Actual results:
In the sound device list, only has ac97 and ich6.

Expected results:
Should add ich9

Additional info:
From qemu, we already support ich9-intel-hda:
# /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm -device ?
...
Sound devices:
name "AC97", bus PCI, desc "Intel 82801AA AC97 Audio"
name "hda-duplex", bus HDA, desc "HDA Audio Codec, duplex (line-out, line-in)"
name "hda-micro", bus HDA, desc "HDA Audio Codec, duplex (speaker, microphone)"
name "hda-output", bus HDA, desc "HDA Audio Codec, output-only (line-out)"
name "ich9-intel-hda", bus PCI, desc "Intel HD Audio Controller (ich9)"
name "intel-hda", bus PCI, desc "Intel HD Audio Controller (ich6)"
...

Comment 6 zhoujunqin 2014-09-29 06:06:13 UTC
I can reproduce this issue with package:
virt-manager-0.10.0-20.el7.noarch
then try to verify with new build:
virt-manager-1.1.0-3.el7.noarch

steps:
1. Launch virt-manager, adding a sound device to a guest.( click Edit---->Virtual Machine Details---->Add Hardware--->Sound), in the support sound device list: ac97, ich6, ich9
selected ich9 to add to the guest.

2. Start the guest and login the guest to check.
# lspci
00:04.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)
and can use this sound device to listen some music.

since "ich9" has been added to sound device list and it works well in the guest,
move this bug from ON_QA to VERIFIED.
