screen-cast: selection using SHIFT/CTRL
- it took me a while to understand the exact scenario here (and I must admit that I am still not 100% sure that I got the problem) - posting a video would be a much better idea.
- see attachment 939364 [details]: in this screen-cast, the blinking / general highlighting that you are referring to appears to be in blue, not in orange (at least for me); from your screen-shots I figured that you were using Firefox, in my screen-cast I am using Firefox too. So I assume that the color of the blinking / highlighting depends on the configured coloring scheme of the OS.
- again, referring to my screen-cast: I did not observe any difficulty with the visibility of the selected items; any highlighting (that appears only if I am making a continuous mouse-dragging on the entire screen, and disappears automatically due to the automatic grid-refresh) is affecting only the cells-content itself, not the entire grid-row, which, if selected, is still clearly visible as selected.
I am also not quite sure what is the improvement expectation here: the only thing that comes to mind is the square blinking (like in your "crl_SELECT-squere.png" image) that we may be able to get rid of; selection of cell-content is imperative for copy-paste purposes, which we want to support, therefore we cannot remove this capability, and I doubt that we can control the color (again, this seems to arrive from the OS coloring scheme).
I am reducing the severity to medium - I honestly haven't noticed anything severe in the user experience in this case.
If there is anything that you would like to further clarify regarding the user-experience improvement expectation here / clarify the problem by posting a video / etc. - please do so.
thanks.
I have added a video as asked (it is available right here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zwk4hk7cgikkkfr/select_orange_coloring.ogv?dl=0 ), note that this happens when selection all items, not VM's in a particularly. I was able to reproduce this issue myself (again, in my client, highlighting is in dark blue rather than orange), however the behavior is extremely inconsistent (e.g. one time all of the grid's surrounding is highlighted, another time only the grids' rows are highlighted, and another time nothing is highlighted). judging from the inconsistent behavior, I'm afraid that the resources that will be required to investigate and resolve this issue will not be justified compared to the severity of this issue. I am flagging for 3.6 (since I cannot flag bugs to anything later than that), but my hope is that by moving to bootstrap/patternfly grids (in RHEV 4.x timeframe), this problem will not occur anymore. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 1101178 *** |
