audio *not* working
I should mention that the same HDMI output is used for my primary monitor and there has never been any issue with video output. do you mean your onboard audio wake-up faster than your hdmi ? seem HDMI lost ELD and wait for graphic driver to obtain EDID from your HDMI monitor check the system log and pulseaudio log 228503.116259] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Stopping disk [228503.224042] sound hdaudioC0D3: HDMI: invalid ELD buf size -1 [228503.224048] sound hdaudioC0D3: HDMI: invalid ELD buf size -1 [228503.345128] PM: suspend of devices complete after 347.669 msecs -- [228503.369447] ACPI: Preparing to enter system sleep state S3 [228503.525135] sound hdaudioC0D3: HDMI: invalid ELD buf size -1 [228503.672307] PM: Saving platform NVS memory This ceased being an issue for me sometime in the last 6 months (sorry, not sure when). I'm not on F22 and this appears to be resolved there also. |
Created attachment 940971 [details] hdmi audio working Description of problem: I play audio via my monitor's HDMI input. After sleeping and waking my laptop several times, audio output ceases after wakeup. When I go to sound control panel (Gnome) the HDMI audio output is missing from the list. Selecting my laptop's built-in speaker causes sound to resume from the laptop speaker. Unplugging the HDMI cable, and plugging it back in causes the HDMI audio output to re-appear in the list of available devices, and I can then select and use it as before. How reproducible: The problem only occurs every so often - perhaps after 5-10 sleep/wake cycles. I've done a complete reload of Fedora and the problem has persisted. 2 files are attached which contain the output of 'alsa-info.sh --no-upload': alsa-info.txt.H1GB14FpSn - hdmi audio working alsa-info.txt.uilBWydzIE - hdmi audio not working Additional info: Monitor: LG IPS237L LCD Laptop: Lenovo Thinkpad E520
