I removed Linux F21 several days ago, and I installed F21 again, after I had removed all Linux partitions (note: the 'original' partitions of MacOSX are still there). I have used the new 'instance' of F21 for the last 2 days, and still works perfectly. It only crashed once. Interestingly enough, I have seen once the Fedora boot splash screen. Every other time, I only saw 4 white lines that becomes yellow after 3 seconds. I need to press ESC to see the progress (OK or failed) and to be able to enter the passphrase for the encrypted /home volume. Maybe there is a relationship between working on Mac and at next startup running F21 but I haven't found anything so far. |
Created attachment 941995 [details] boot messages F21 Description of problem: The system freezes (or don't do anything) during startup. A brief message "Welcome to emergency mode! After logging in, type journalctl -xb to view system logs etc". Next message: "Stopped Emergency Shell." A moment later I have to type in my password to decrypt an encrypted volume (/home/{user}). Fedora continues, and several seconds later the system halts. A photo of the screen is included. After install from the live CD, it started up correctly. After the third time or so, it always shows this kind of behaviour. I didn't install any software, or let Linux communicate with the internet. F20 did worked pretty well on my Mac. I have had no problems during startup, and I used to work with an encrypted volume as well. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): pre-release version of Fedora 21 How reproducible: always, every time I startup Linux Steps to Reproduce: 1. power on 2. let linux choose the default option (the installed Linux kernel on line 1). thus not selecting the emergency mode, which is on line 2. 3.press Esc when Plymouth wants to show a graphical boot splash screen. (I have never seen a correctly displayed Plymount graphical boot splash screen on my screen because the image is distorted or instead, I see several code lines and that's it.)
