Duplicate of bug #1148179 but this one provides more info. The reason for this issue is the removal of libgeotiff from EPEL6. More info can be had from the EPEL devel mailing list at: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/epel-devel/2014-October/010266.html It appears the EPEL Steering Committee is aware based on their bug tracker: https://fedorahosted.org/epel/ticket/15 For anyone watching the workaround for this issue is: $ yum install https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org//packages/libgeotiff/1.2.5/5.el6/x86_64/libgeotiff-1.2.5-5.el6.x86_64.rpm $ yum install gdal This package has changed maintainer in the Fedora. Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component. The version gdal-1.7 is completely outdated, current version is 3.1. Personally, I do not have the time nor knowledge to prepare a gdal-compat package. Any volunteer? This message is a reminder that EPEL 6 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for EPEL 6 on 2020-11-30. It is our policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a 'version' of 'el6'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later EPEL version.
