alsa-info showing resource conflict

Alsa does not properly detect audio device and/or output sink (Realtek ALC889A on GA-P35-DS5 / ICH9 motherboard)


Fedora 21 does not properly configure my audio device and/or output sink (Realtek ALC889A on GA-P35-DS5 / ICH9 motherboard).
The problem is not new to fedora 21 but arose with fedora 20 (if I recall correctly).
There are multiple reports of this problem in other distro-forums (such as https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=180437).

I managed to produce a script that resets audio configuration and selects the correct sink as a workaround.
The first part of the script involves removing pulseaudio configuration, but this can now be commented out. 
If I recall correctly, this actually was necessary early in fedora 20.
Currently, I automatically start the script after logon to cinnamon using a 'Startup programs' entry.

But, probably there's more people out there frustrated with this problem, who won't figure this out and just give up replacing xp with linux.

Alsa-info output will be attached. 
One of these files reports a resource conflict involving IRQ's.

I tried to hint the snd_hda_intel model using:
	options snd_hda_intel model=6stack
which should be ok for ALC889A models (6 jacks back, 2 front).
This does not make a difference; still need to assign the sink using pacmd.

I'm not sure whether the LXDE LiveCD is supposed to support sound, but I tried the fedora 20 version and it does not give me any sound.
Last week, I separately installed Fedora 20 with Gnome 3 desktop which also did not give me any sound by default. 

Cinnamon sound settings only show output sinks 'Digital Output (S/PDIF)' and 'Analog headphones', but no 'Analog Output'.
